The R2960 is a Type K needle-tip probe with a slim hypodermic-style tip meant to pierce into food, rubber, gels and other soft solids for an internal temperature reading, covering -58 to 1112F (-50 to 600C) with a roughly 7.1-inch probe, 5-inch handle and 39-inch lead. It suits food service, laboratory and light industrial spot-checks where a surface or immersion probe can't reach the core of the material. The -NIST edition adds a NIST-traceable calibration certificate for regulated or quality-audited use.
